ComfortHush¹

Insulated acoustic laminated glass

The ComfortHush¹ range is a combination of a durable Low E coating with a specially formulated acoustic interlayer that absorbs external noise and maintains a comfortable temperature in your home.

The special 3-layer acoustic PVB laminate is specifically designed to reduce sound transmission, whilst the Low E coating offers improved energy efficiency performance which helps to keep homes and buildings cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

ComfortHush¹ 6.5mm and 6.88mm provides a 6dB improvement compared to ordinary 3mm glass found in many residential windows.

ComfortHush¹ is a registered trademark of Oceania Glass.

Considerations

Thermal Stress

  • When combining toned products, it is recommended that a thermal stress assessment be undertaken.

Installation

  • For an accurate sound assessment, all elements of the building envelope need consideration in order to develop an accurate acoustic solution. This includes window frames, walls, floor and roof materials which all influence sound transmission.
  • Ensure any airgaps and frames are well sealed to avoid noise leaks, poorly sealed spaces will leak both air and noise.
  • Haze may be present under certain light conditions.
  • When single glazed, the coating needs to be exposed to the interior of the building. The Viridian product label will be applied to the non-coated surface and must be installed to the outside of the building.
  • When incorporated into an IGU, it is recommended that the coating be applied to the internal surfaces of the unit. Ensure the coated surface is identified and oriented for optimal performance. It is not recommended to incorporate neutral or toned products due to thermal risk.
